Course Description

Mammography is the only screening study proven to reduce breast cancer mortality, but can yield too many false positives and have low sensitivity in cases of dense breasts. Today, there is evidence that supports using Abbreviated Breast MR (AB-MR) for supplemental screening for the detection of breast cancer and expanding our use of it in larger populations.

Join Dr. Emily Conant (University of Pennsylvania) as she reviews data supporting supplemental screening with AB-MR for women with dense breasts and otherwise average risk, and why AB-MR’s improved efficiency and maintenance of accuracy may allow more women access to this important supplemental screening modality. She reviews lessons learned from the early clinical implementation of AB-MR for supplemental screening, as well as case examples showcasing early outcomes.

Dr. Conant also reviews the background and history of AB-MR, best practices for implementation, and tips for protocols and screening, and showcases her imaging approach to specific diagnoses such as:

  • Invasive lobular carcinoma
  • Extensive ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS)
  • Invasive ductal carcinoma
  • …and more

Optimize your learning:

  • Test Yourself – Before starting the video, launch the DICOM study and complete your independent review of the case in our diagnostic web viewer.
  • Review at your own pace – Reminder to utilize the video player features to speed up or slow down the video, pause or rewind to best fit your available time and learning needs.
  • Read alongside Dr. Conant – Keep the DICOM study open while you watch Dr. Conant review the cases. We suggest popping the DICOM viewer open in a new window and viewing side by side with the video on your screen.

After you’re done, check out these additional Breast Imaging Mastery Courses for further in-depth case review:
